Queens challenges you to place crowns across colorful regions. Use logic and careful elimination to solve each puzzle without guesswork.
About Queens
A single crown can change the possibilities across an entire board. Queens challenges you to read colorful regions, eliminate unsuitable cells, and find a placement that satisfies every rule. The puzzle is easy to understand at first, but solving it takes careful observation and logical thinking.
Start With The Most Restricted Areas
- Instead of scanning every cell at once, look for rows, columns, or colored regions with only a few available positions. These areas can provide useful starting points and help you determine where a crown belongs.
- As you make progress, keep track of cells that are no longer valid. X marks help separate ruled-out positions from those worth considering, making the board easier to read as the puzzle develops.
How Each Move Changes The Board
Placing a crown does more than fill one cell. It also limits where other crowns can go. Each placement must follow the same set of rules:
- Every row contains exactly one crown.
- Every column contains exactly one crown.
- Every colored region contains exactly one crown.
- No two crowns may touch, including diagonally.
These restrictions work together. A cell might fit its row and column but still be invalid because of its colored region or its proximity to another crown. Check all four rules before settling on a position.
Build Your Solution Through Elimination
- After placing a crown, review the affected row and column and mark the surrounding cells that would cause crowns to touch. Then revisit nearby color groups to see whether any options have been eliminated.
- If a region is left with only one valid cell, its crown has a clear destination. When several positions remain possible, leave them open and work on another part of the board. A later placement may provide the information needed to resolve the uncertainty.
