The objective of the word search game Forester is to find a secret word buried on a 5x5 grid. Within six tries, you must correctly guess the secret word. The player initiates play by inputting a word of their choosing. The secret word can be buried in the text in any of four possible orientations (horizontal, vertical, diagonal, and backward). Letters in the guessed word that do not correspond to those in the hidden word are indicated by shading. But there won't be any echoes of letters.
The letters on the keyboard will become darker as the player guesses more words to show which ones have previously been used and are not part of the secret word. There are hints in the game to assist the player. During setup, the word "ASPEN" appears on the middle row of the screen, but it is spelled in reverse. That's a hint towards the secret word! The PATH button also allows players to look back on their discoveries.
